Finance
- These FAQs address all participating students independent of their examination regulation (Prüfungsordnung), e.g., Diplom-BWL.
An application via STiNE is mandatory (lecture and tutorials).
- Participation in tutorials is mandatory for Bachelor students. This does not apply to participants who repeat the class and have attended all tutorials in a previous term. However, also in their case attendance is highly recommended.
- Please address questions regarding the assignment to tutorial groups or a change between tutorial groups to the STiNE-Team (040 - 428 844 844). For all other STiNE-related questions please also get in touch with the STiNE-Team first.
- In case your application has been turned down in the first application phase you can apply again in the second phase. Note that the first application must be canceled before signing up anew.
Students in the Bachelor track are automatically signed up for the exam after having registered for the class via STiNE.
Students of other examination regulations need to sign up for the exam following the respective process (e.g., BWL/VWL–Diplom: FlexNow). To be able to write the exam it is necessary to have both signed up via STiNE and via the respective alternative process. Without a registration in STiNE a late sign-up for the exam is not possible.
- Who can I contact?
- Your tutor is the first contact for questions related to either the lecture or the tutorial. He or she will provide contact details in the first session.
- Please adress organizational questions or general comments to ba_fin@iff-uhh.de.
- Please note that we cannot answer your request unless sent to above email address.
- How does the exam go?
- The exam lasts 1.5 hours.
- Questions will be asked in the class language. Answers need to be provided via multiple-choice.
- There are two exam dates. Please pay attention to announcements in class and the class website.
- Why do slides in the lecture and in the tutorials not carry the entire text?
- Gaps can be well filled through preparing the lecture in advance. It is our goal that students work on the topic themselves rather than simply copying text. This provides the opportunity to compare own solutions with the content of the lecture and enriching ones notes with what is being presented and elaborated in class.
- Preparing and reviewing class material tpgether with the textbook is indispensable for all parts of the lecture.
- The main advantage of attending class is to compare one's own preparation with the content of the lecture, ask questions (based on own preparation) and enrich one's notes. Therefore, the our slides are a mere grid for preparation and review.
- Slides are not a script!
- Class material is available in electronic form until the first exam date.
- In case you use an older version of the textbook you can review changes between the 8th and 9th version here.
Review of exam results
- You can personally review your exam results, usually a few weeks after the official announcement of results.
- Dates for review and deadlines for appointments will be posted in the German teaching section Lehre > Klausuren.
- Unless stated otherwise, to sign up for a personal review you need to send an eMail minimum 48 hours before the date. We will then assign an appointment. Please provide your student ID and the exam you want to review. In case you cannot attend this appointment, a future review is only possible at the examination office (Prüfungsamt).
- In case you want to review two different exams, please send two eMails. You will be assigned two appointments.
- Prior to receiving your exam for review you need to identify via official personal ID (e.g., German Personalausweis) or via your student ID.
- In case you do not agree with the results of your exam please do not hesitate to request an explication.
- In case you would like to have your exam results reexamined by the lecturer, please specify precisely your reasons for demanding a full (!) reexamination (Nachkorrektur). A full reexamination entails a reexamination of all your answers to the exams. In this process your grade can improve, stay the same or decline.
